The Best Gifts Are From the Heart

Christmas is a wonderful time for thoughtful expressions, a time we’ll remember many friends and loved ones and a time that we will be remembered. Many of us will receive numerous communications in the course of the next few weeks, but there will be a select few that will mean a bit more.

What’s the difference? What makes a card or gift so special? Is it the cost, the brand, the size, the color, the gift itself or even the one who gave it? Not necessarily. The difference occurs when it comes from the heart. The best gifts come from the heart!

Gifts from the heart are given more intentionally. There is a different quality about them. For one, they are personal. They are not meant for the many, they are fashioned with one particular person in mind. They reflect our relationship with them, they include details we both fondly remember, and they serve as another thread to knit our hearts back together again.

Heart gifts are meaningful. They are sent with a purpose, they communicate care. Something genuine is expressed. Perhaps a reminder of the special love or appreciation we have for one another, or maybe an important event or some favorite thing. There is no end to the variety of these gifts, but one thing will always be so, they’ll always have significance. They may mean nothing to anyone else, but to us, they will possess great worth.

Heart gifts are memorable. That card we read over and over again. That gift displayed where it can be easily seen. Each glance encourages our heart and rekindles our gratitude for the individual. And when the season comes to an end and its time to find these gifts a new home, we’ll be sure to place them among our “keepsakes” where they will be safe and retrievable.

And one more thing, gifts from the heart are affordable. They can be as simple as heartfelt words on a piece of paper, a few endearing comments on a special photo, something hand made, individually selected or personalized. It doesn’t have to be expensive; it simply needs the investment of your time, thought and care. Yes, the best gifts come from the heart. Why not spend a little more time and a little less money and give things folks won’t throw away.
