Let's Obey Right Away
Thank the Lord for another wonderful week of special meetings with Dr. Rick Flanders. Looking back over the week, much ground has been covered and many truths have been shared. We learned:
Revival is a return to spiritual health and the first place it should appear is at home.
The Christian life involves some very hard commands, but Jesus taught that the difficulty is greatly diminished when we take His yoke upon us.
God still stands ready to bless those who will humbly seek Him.
The Holy Spirit is not just a doctrine, but He is a person who lives within us, providing many benefits and manifesting His power in miraculous ways.
Our Christian homes often fail to pass the principles of revival from one generation to the next. Dads were admonished in some very practical ways.
The church is the most important and powerful institution in the world. We need to maintain unity and purity so that our prayers can impact our culture.
Our weakness is a platform by which God can demonstrate His mighty power therefore we should not be discouraged by our weaknesses, but rather more dependent on His strength.
We need to come back to the joy of the Lord by reading our Bibles, obeying its commands, confessing our sins, committing ourselves and willingly offering ourselves to God for service.
Perhaps your summary does not look the same as mine, which simply demonstrates the fact that the Holy Spirit did a unique work in each of our lives. The critical issue now is what we do with the truth. Remember what we heard Friday night, “Unhappiness is the gap between knowing the truth and doing the truth.” I made a little diagram to illustrate the point.
Remember what Jesus said in John 13:17 “If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.” Let’s eliminate the “unhappy gap” by obeying the Lord right away.
I heard about one of our couples who went for breakfast yesterday morning so they could discuss how to implement the truths they learned… Great idea! God help all of us to take whatever steps are necessary to obey.
