With God, All Things Are Possible

“I just can’t go on; I can’t take it any longer.” Have you ever heard those words? Have you ever used them yourself? There is no doubt about it, life is marked by challenges and difficulties, but a Christian has a promise from God that he must never forget – “with God all things are possible.” (Matt. 19:26)

Do you recall some of the difficulties Moses faced in Exodus 5 as he was attempting to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt? Pharoah would not listen to him, the taskmasters began beating the Israelites because they were not producing enough bricks, the elders of Israel were upset with him, Moses went to the Lord and said, this is not working. God wasn’t troubled, He knew exactly what to do and instructed Moses accordingly.

How many times are God’s people guilty of saying, “I can’t” when God says you can and indeed you should? I can’t stop worrying, I can’t remain in this marriage, I can’t forgive so and so, I can’t quit smoking, I can’t control my anger, I can’t get up on time, I can’t tithe, I can’t make it to Sunday School, I can’t talk to people about Christ... the list is endless.

We say “I can’t” because we are looking at our difficulty or our responsibility through our own eyes; we are trying to conquer it in our own strength, or we’re trying to figure it out with our own understanding. Yet the Scriptures tell us not to lean on our own under-standing (Prov. 3:5-6); God’s strength is made perfect in your weakness (2 Cor. 12:9); and look unto Jesus the author and finisher of your faith (Heb. 12:2).

The God who has given you the responsibility or has allowed you to experience the difficulty has a purpose for it all. In His infinite wisdom, He has specifically designed it to fit your situation and to meet your individual needs. He is fully aware of your resources and limitations. He knows your financial situation, He is fully aware of the status in every one of your relationships. He’s conscious of your physical, mental and spiritual condition; but He still wants you to grow through it.

You’ve got to admit, Moses faced enormous difficulties as He led Israel out of Egypt. But he wasn’t in it alone. The God who led him to do it, was the God who enabled him through it. So, the next time you are tempted to say, “I can’t”, remember with God, all things are possible.
